Synergy Automation — Tally Connector Extension (Chrome)

1. Introduction

Synergy Futurecorp OPC Pvt Ltd (“Synergy”, “we”, “our”, “us”) provides the Tally Connector Extension, a free browser extension that imports bank statements into TallyPrime running on your own computer.

This Privacy Policy explains how the extension handles information, in compliance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP Act”).

The extension is a different product from Synergy Connector (desktop executable) and Synergy Automation (web application), and it handles data differently: it has no account, no login, and no server-side copy of your books. Those products are covered by our main Privacy Policy.

2. Scope

This policy applies to:

3. Information We Collect

Important: The extension collects no accounting data. Your bank statements are read inside the extension on your own machine. Ledger names, balances, party names, amounts, narrations and vouchers move only between the extension and your own TallyPrime software over your computer’s local connection (127.0.0.1). None of it reaches Synergy or any third party, and there is no code path in the extension that could send it.

a) Account Information

None. The extension has no sign-up, no login, and no password. We do not ask for or receive your name, email address, phone number or firm name.

b) Accounting Data

None is transmitted. The following stays on your computer at all times:

Bank statement files (Excel or CSV) and everything inside them
Account numbers, transactions, dates, amounts and balances
Ledger names, group names and party names
Voucher details and narrations
Your configuration, counter-ledger choices and data folder

c) Technical & Usage Data

None. The extension contains no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting and no advertising or tracking code of any kind. Error messages are written to a post log stored on your own machine, and are never transmitted.

4. What Licence Activation Sends

The extension is free, but each installation activates once so that it can be supported and, if ever necessary, withdrawn. This is the only thing the extension sends to us.

On activation, it sends exactly:

An install identifier — a random value generated on your computer (see below)
A public key generated on your computer for this installation
A timestamp
A licence key, only if Synergy has specifically issued you one. Ordinary free installs do not have or send a key.

On a periodic check-in — at most once every 24 hours — it sends exactly:

The same install identifier
A timestamp
A signature proving the request came from this installation

Important: The install identifier is not a device fingerprint. It is derived from a cryptographic key generated at random on your computer — not from your hardware, your browser, your IP address, your Tally company or anything about you. It cannot be linked back to you or to your accounting data. The activation and check-in requests contain nothing from your books, and cannot be made to.

If your computer is offline, check-ins simply do not happen and the extension keeps working normally.

5. Where Your Data Lives

In your browser’s local storage for this extension, on this computer
If you choose a data folder, in plain files inside that folder on your own disk
In your own TallyPrime company, once you post entries to it

You can export or erase everything at any time from the extension’s Settings. Removing the extension or clearing its site data destroys the local copy. We hold no copy to delete, because we never received one.

6. What We Store On Our Servers

One licence record per installation, containing only:

The install identifier described in section 4
The public key for that installation
The activation date and the date of the most recent check-in
The licence key, validity period, seat count, and whether it has been withdrawn

No name, no email address, no company name, no IP address and no accounting data is stored in that record.

7. Data Sharing

We hold no accounting data, so none can be shared. The licence record described in section 6 is not shared with third parties except:

When required by Indian law or court order
With explicit user consent
With essential service providers strictly for service operation (under confidentiality obligations)

We do NOT:

Sell or rent data
Use data for advertising or profiling
Provide financial, tax, or audit advice

8. Data Retention

Accounting data is never received by us, so there is nothing for us to retain
The licence record is retained while the installation is active
On request, the licence record will be removed within 30 days
Minimal server logs may be retained for security and legal compliance (up to 1 year)

9. Your Rights

Under the DPDP Act, 2023, you have the right to:

Access your personal data held by us
Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
Erase your data (subject to legal retention requirements)
Withdraw consent at any time
File a grievance with us or the Data Protection Board of India

To exercise these rights, contact us at the email provided below. Data held on your own computer is under your control at all times and can be erased from Settings without contacting us.

10. Security

Your accounting data does not travel over the internet, which removes that risk entirely
Communication with TallyPrime stays on your computer’s local connection (127.0.0.1)
Licence traffic is encrypted in transit and signed by a key that cannot leave your browser profile
The extension requests no browsing permissions and can read no other website

While we apply reasonable security measures, no system is completely secure. Because your books stay on your machine, protecting that machine — and backing it up — remains your responsibility.

11. User Responsibilities

Users (including accountants, CAs, and businesses) are responsible for:

Verifying all entries before and after posting to Tally or statutory filings
Maintaining statutory and regulatory compliance
Keeping backups of financial data and of the Tally company
Ensuring correct configuration, ledger selection and input data

Synergy is an automation tool, not a substitute for professional judgment or audit.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

Synergy is not liable for financial loss, penalties, tax issues, or indirect damages arising from use of the software
We are not responsible for errors arising from Tally, bank data formats, or user configuration
Total liability shall not exceed the fees paid by the user in the preceding 12 months, if any. The extension is provided free of charge.
Users must independently verify all processed data before submission to any authority

13. Third Parties

TallyPrime — your own installation, on your own computer. The extension connects to it over your local connection only.
Our licence service — operated by Synergy on secure cloud infrastructure. It receives the activation and check-in described in section 4, and nothing else.

Third-party services may be used strictly for system functionality (not for data resale or profiling). The extension contains no advertising networks, no analytics providers and no third-party trackers.

14. India-Only Use

Synergy products are intended only for use within India and are governed exclusively by Indian laws. Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of courts in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

15. Children's Privacy

Synergy services are intended for business use by adults (18 years or older). We do not knowingly collect data from individuals under 18. If we become aware of such collection, we will delete the data promptly.

16. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the extension or on this page. Continued use of the extension after such notice constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
