Which Tally does it work with?

TallyPrime, on the same computer as your Chrome, with one connection setting switched on. The setup page shows you exactly where.

Do I need to keep the extension open while it posts?

Yes, keep it open until posting finishes. If Tally closes part way through, the rest of your entries wait in the queue and go in when Tally is back.
